We finally made it to Part 3 on building business partnerships!
One thing about me, if you don't already know, is that it's all about quality, not quantity. It’s pretty bold for me to say, as with most business plans the rule of thumb is ‘more customers, more money. Quality can wait.’
Now, that is a pretty true cause and effect, but what if you shifted your focus on quality first and had real clarity in purpose?
In Parts 1 and 2 we got clear about our ethics and getting our ideal client to match with our partner’s. Now it's time to get real clear about what each can do to support each other.
This can be tricky because, though you might both have similar ideal clients and have ethics that match, if you're not clear about how to support each other it can feel like you're just spinning your wheels.
You can have the best intentions and expectations, but partnerships require total clarity from both parties to be successful.
So how do you get clear?
Make a list of what you can offer.
-Will you offer commission?
-Will you promote them? If so, how?
Make a list of what they can offer.
-Will you earn commission?
-Will they promote you? If so, how?
Get clear about communication.
-How will you communicate with them? Phone, email, mail?
-How often will you communicate with them?
-What are the specific reasons for communicating with them?
In my experience, monthly follow-ups are usually the best amount of time. However, depending on how you’re partnering, it might be more frequent in the start and then turn into a yearly review only.
Taking action and getting clear can make you not only find and work with the ideal partner, but it can help to serve your combined ideal clients with excellence like no one else!
Now it’s your turn!
